Apple has released iOS 27.0.1 to address early software glitches on new devices, while acknowledging a physical connection fault affecting certain iPhone 18 Pro Max units on the AT&T network, according to a report by iphoneaddict.fr. The mid-cycle update arrives just two weeks after the rollout of iOS 27, targeting specific bugs that include Face ID authentication loops and camera artifacts.
iOS 27.0.1 Patches Face ID And Camera Bugs
The iOS 27.0.1 software update fixes unexpected reboots triggered when Face ID authentication fails on iPhone 18 Pro models. It also resolves a color artifact appearing in photos captured with the 2D zoom, alongside a touchscreen freeze caused by opening both iOS control centers at the same time. Despite these fixes, iphoneaddict.fr reported that several iPhone 18 Pro users continue to experience issues with the dictation feature dropping words.
For users remaining on older software, Apple also released iOS 26.7.1, macOS 26.7.1, and macOS 15.8.1. These updates patch a CoreGraphics vulnerability that Apple confirmed was actively exploited in targeted attacks against older systems.
Hardware Faults Surface On AT&T Network
Beyond software corrections, Apple acknowledged a hardware-related network drop impacting specific iPhone 18 Pro Max units sold in the United States. Affected devices operating on AT&T can lose cellular connectivity entirely, preventing calls, text messages, and data usage. While a carrier settings update and iOS 27.0.1 aim to prevent new occurrences, devices that have already suffered total signal loss require hardware replacement.
The issue appears limited to the US market and does not affect models used on Verizon or T-Mobile, nor international variants. US versions utilize a Qualcomm Snapdragon X80 modem, whereas global models feature Apple’s proprietary C2 modem, though no definitive hardware link has been officially established by the company.
Despite these early hardware hurdles, Counterpoint Research figures cited by iphoneaddict.fr show that Chinese sales for the new iPhone lineup rose 12 percent year-over-year during the first three days of availability. Apple captured 33 percent of the Chinese smartphone market during the week of September 14 to September 20.
iPhone Duo Production Faces Yield Bottlenecks
Apple is also preparing for the commercial rollout of the iPhone Duo, its first folding smartphone. Foxconn manufacturing yields for the device reportedly sit at barely 60 percent due to assembly challenges involving folding OLED screens, thin internal components, and a complex hinge mechanism consisting of more than 100 individual parts. Production for 2026 is targeted between 6 and 8 million units, well below the 20 to 30 million units typical for standard Pro and Pro Max generations.
This expected hardware scarcity has already attracted malicious activity. Fraudulent pre-order pages mimicking Apple’s website have surfaced, offering a 500-dollar discount while executing malicious code designed to steal credentials, messages, photos, notes, and cryptocurrency wallets.
iPhone Duo Pre-Orders Open October 16
Customers can officially prepare orders for the iPhone Duo starting October 12, ahead of formal pre-orders opening on October 16 and retail availability beginning on October 23.
