The Apple Vision Pro is about to celebrate its second birthday in February, and the rumor mill is churning with speculation about the next-generation model. If you’ve been holding off, waiting for a more powerful version, the latest whispers suggest the Apple Vision Pro 2 might just blow your mind with a beefier chip than anyone expected.
Will Apple Vision Pro 2 Get an M5 Chip?
The debate around which chip will power the refreshed Apple Vision Pro has been a rollercoaster. The current model runs on the M2, which was the latest and greatest when it was announced. Of course, the M3 arrived in other Apple products before the Vision Pro even hit shelves.
Initial reports pointed towards the unreleased M5 chip gracing the next Vision Pro. More recent speculation had dialed it back to the M4, a move that would align with the original Vision Pro’s strategy of using a chip one generation behind the cutting edge.
But hold on to your headsets! MacRumors, citing what appears to be an Apple code leak (the kind only eagle-eyed developers can spot),is now claiming the Apple Vision Pro 2 will indeed boast the M5 chip.
What Else Did the Apple code Leak Reveal?
According to the same code leak, the Apple Watch Series 11 might not see a significant speed bump, and the next iPad mini could be powered by the A19 Pro chip. For context, the current iPad mini rocks the A17 Pro and supports Apple Intelligence features.
MacRumors describes the leak as “Apple accidentally leaked some internal information about the upcoming chip,” “according to code accidentally shared by Apple,” and “according to information found in code that Apple mistakenly shared.” Sounds like someone in Cupertino might be in a bit of trouble!
Is This the Real Deal?
it’s tough to say for sure without more context about this alleged Apple code leak. Does it offer a comprehensive roadmap of Apple’s future plans? If so, that’s huge! For now, we’ll have to keep our ears to the ground and wait for Apple to officially unveil its updates to the Apple Vision Pro and iPad mini. Until than, consider this a tantalizing rumor with the potential to make the Apple Vision Pro 2 a truly groundbreaking device.
