Apple’s WWDC 2025: Apple Intelligence and Google Partnership in Focus
Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) begins Monday, offering CEO Tim Cook an chance to address investor concerns. The company’s stock performance has been impacted by worries about tariffs and delays in the rollout of key Apple Intelligence features.
Cook’s keynote, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, is expected to highlight Apple intelligence, the company’s suite of AI-driven functionalities. The event will be streamed live.
Analysts at Goldman Sachs suggest Apple might announce new collaborations, perhaps including a deal with Google to integrate the Gemini large language model into apple’s AI offerings. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai expressed optimism in April about finalizing an agreement with Apple by mid-2025, noting ongoing discussions with Cook, according to Bloomberg. Previously, Apple partnered with OpenAI, incorporating ChatGPT into Siri.
Furthermore, Apple is anticipated to introduce a software development kit enabling third-party developers to create AI applications using the LLMs powering Apple Intelligence.
Last year’s WWDC saw Cook present an AI-enhanced Siri, capable of handling complex,multi-step tasks across various iPhone applications. Though, JPMorgan analysts noted that the release of this feature has been postponed to 2026. A more precise timeline could be revealed next week.
This year, Cook is also expected to unveil the latest iOS for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other devices ahead of the anticipated iPhone 17 launch this fall. The update could introduce some design changes like rounded icons and translucent displays, and add features like AI-optimized battery usage, Goldman Sachs said. Citi analysts suggest Apple might renumber its updates, potentially naming the new version iOS 26 instead of iOS 19.
The conference arrives after a challenging start to 2025 for Apple, with its shares declining by 18%. This makes Apple the second-worst performing Splendid Seven stock this year, after Tesla.
What’s next
Industry observers will be watching closely to see if Apple’s announcements at WWDC 2025 can reignite investor confidence and set a positive course for the remainder of the year.
