PARIS (AP) —

French industrial water treatment firm⁢ Aquaprox ⁤is accelerating its international expansion with the acquisition of ⁤two Turkish companies, Teknochem and atech Proses.

Aquaprox, a subsidiary of the Proxis Family ETI, is strategically positioning itself to capitalize on increasing regulatory scrutiny and resource preservation efforts, particularly in Europe. The company’s internationalization policy, now in its fifteenth year, gains significant momentum ‌with these acquisitions, finalized on April 16.

Teknochem, known for its advanced engineering in water treatment systems, brings accredited laboratories to the group. Atech Proses ‌specializes in industrial water treatment solutions, adding expertise in on-site treatment program monitoring. Together, the ⁢two Turkish ⁢firms⁤ employ‌ over 50 people and generate⁣ more⁤ than €20 million in annual revenue.

Strategic Expansion into Asia and ⁢the Middle East

The acquisitions offer dual advantages, according to Aquaprox‍ Managing Director⁣ Cédric Matras. “This integration aligns with our shared ‍objective: ‌to collaboratively design and implement reliable, innovative, ⁢and environmentally conscious solutions,” matras stated. “Atech Proses and⁤ Teknochem recognized Aquaprox as a robust economic platform for reaching larger markets.”

Matras also emphasized the establishment of a presence in⁣ a market with ‍substantial industrial potential. The acquisitions provide direct access to⁣ Turkish-speaking states like Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, while also⁣ opening doors to the Middle ⁤East and broader Asian⁢ markets. The‍ industrial know-how of the Turkish companies is ⁣expected to facilitate market penetration.

“These companies ⁤bring‍ a well-developed technology in Turkey⁣ regarding⁢ water reuse,” Matras explained, “as ‍well as seawater desalination technology that we don’t fully master.” He noted the differing ‍challenges in accessing potable water in Western Europe compared⁤ to⁣ other regions. Control over desalination technology is‍ crucial in these areas.

While ‌Atech Proses and Teknochem possess the technical capabilities for desalination, they may lack the commercial structure⁤ and cost profile‍ necessary for major projects⁣ in⁤ the Middle East, according to Matras. Consultations are already underway in Gulf countries.

LinkedIn ⁢post about the acquisition.

Aquaprox also seeks strategic partnerships for market entry. In‌ Morocco, the company is supporting Stellantis in constructing a factory by providing the treatment plant, potentially including an operating phase and downstream project support. This‌ initial ⁢step led Aquaprox to establish an entity in Morocco, where significant needs exist for industrial and tertiary ⁣water treatment, particularly in ⁢the food ⁤and tourism sectors. the group has also been present‌ in cameroon for ⁢two years, addressing delays in‌ exhausting processes.

Eyes on the United States

Aquaprox, with a turnover exceeding €115⁤ million in 2024 ‍and over 350 employees in Europe and Africa, is well-positioned to support its internationalization strategy. The group aims to reach €250 million in turnover by 2030. “The market is quite promising,” says Matras.”We are⁤ pursuing a buyout dynamic that is ‍truly part of the Proxys group’s DNA, reinvesting 100% of profits in growth. Each year, we generate ⁢more profitability, leading to greater ‌buyout capabilities. ⁤It’s a virtuous cycle.”

This growth policy may lead the company to expand across the Atlantic in the ⁤medium term. “We are undoubtedly aiming to ⁤find‌ an opportunity in ⁤the United ⁣States, either by finding a partner or starting⁣ from scratch ⁣in a state with a strong ⁣ecological focus, such as the great⁤ Lakes region or California. We offer and develop alternative water treatment products with a biodegradable structure and a lower carbon footprint.”

In its 35-year history, aquaprox has completed nearly 700 installations, with two-thirds in France and ‍one-third exported. “Equipment projects travel easily,” Matras quipped.
