Kannur: Sultan Adiraja Mariumma, the 40th member of the Arakkal family, the only Muslim dynasty in Kerala, has died at the age of 87. Funeral evening at Juma Masjid Cemetery, Kannur City. She is the wife of the late AP Alipi Elaya, who was the Madras Port Administrative Officer.
Madras Port Superintendent Adiraja Abdul Shukoor, Adiraja Naseema and Adiraja Rahina are his children. Maryumma became the new ruler after the death of Sultan Arakkal Adiraja Fatima Muthubevi, the 39th ruler.
