(Gwangju = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Hoe-seong and Cheon Jeong-in = Controversy is brewing after Ansan (23, Gwangju Bank), the three-gold medalist in archery at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, posted a photo on social media with the word “traitor” written on a Japanese-style bar.

On the 16th, Ansan posted a photo of an electronic display board with the words ‘International flight departure (to Japan)’ written in Japanese Chinese characters on his social media, and wrote, “Why are there so many traitors in Korea?” without any explanation.

This electronic display board was installed to decorate the entrance to a Japanese-themed street at a shopping mall in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.

Ansan’s post has now been deleted, but the captured content was shared with online communities, sparking a flood of negative comments about the Japanese-style bar located here.

As the controversy spread, Kwon Soon-ho, the representative of this bar brand, posted on his social media the day before, “Due to the rumors and speculations that arose, in an instant, I (became) a descendant of pro-Japanese people, and my brand became a brand of traitors,” adding, “I received quite a few messages and malicious comments. “I’m receiving it,” he complained.

He went on to explain, “As overseas travel was restricted towards the end of COVID-19, we planned a brand with the theme of Osaka, Japan.”

In addition, he said, “As an inexperienced CEO, it is very difficult to know how to deal with this situation. I hope that the controversy will end so that my colleagues, store owners, and loved ones who are working hard even in the recession will no longer get sick.”

At one time, claims that there was a problem with CEO Kwon’s personal information spread online, but CEO Kwon posted a post on social media saying that it was not true.

Gwangju Bank, where Ansan belongs to the archery club, said, “Ahn has expressed his intention to make a statement as soon as possible.”
