For the first time in state history, Arizona voters will elect a governor and lieutenant governor together as a joint ticket on November 3, 2026. MST hosted by the Citizens Clean Elections Commission.
Joint Tickets Vie for Arizona Executive Office
The race features four distinct pairings offering sharply contrasting political backgrounds and visions for the state. Lisa Castillo runs on the Green Party ticket with gubernatorial candidate Risa Lombardo. A small-business owner living in Arizona since 2010, Castillo stated that Arizona families deserve leadership grounded in compassion, honesty, and common sense while struggling with affordable housing, healthcare, education, and food. The Clean Elections website reported receiving no response from Castillo regarding whether she will participate in the October 5 debate.
Angela Harrolle Mohan runs as an Independent on a ticket with No Labels Party gubernatorial candidate Teri Ann Hourihan. Harrolle Mohan is a former federal Special Agent, nonprofit executive, and small-business owner who successfully championed bipartisan legislation to strengthen benefits for Arizona first responders. Hourihan announced Harrolle Mohan on X.com in August as the first-ever Lieutenant Governor nominee for the No Labels Party in Arizona. Harrolle Mohan is confirmed to participate in the upcoming debate.
Sine Kerr runs as a Republican alongside gubernatorial candidate Andy Biggs. Kerr is a former Arizona State Senator and Senate Majority Whip who was appointed in 2025 as Arizona’s executive director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency. Andy Biggs stated in July that Kerr knows Arizona’s agriculture community as well as anyone and has the respect of farmers, ranchers, and policymakers. Kerr is participating in the October 5 debate.
John Giles runs as an Independent on the ticket with incumbent Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs. Giles served as Mesa’s mayor from 2014 to 2025 and is a lifelong Republican turned independent who has been a critical voice regarding national party politics. Governor Katie Hobbs stated on X.com in August that Arizona deserves leaders who put the state ahead of partisan politics and welcomed Giles by her side.
Political Analysts Weigh Impact on Unaffiliated Electorate
High Ground Inc. CEO Chuck Coughlin stated in August that unaffiliated voters will make up 28% to 30% of the general election electorate. Coughlin noted that John Giles is very capable of communicating with voters frustrated by the current political environment and giving Governor Hobbs a broader base of support. The selection of Giles reinforces the bipartisan image Hobbs has attempted to build throughout her term.
Citizens Clean Elections Commission Schedules October Debate
