Mr. A is suspected of secretly breaking into a total of 40 locations, including early voting polling stations for the April 10 general election across the country, including Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu and the Gyeonggi Province, from the beginning of this month until recently and installing illegal cameras.

Initially, Mr. A’s camera installation locations were identified at 15 locations in Incheon and Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, but police investigations revealed that he had committed the crime across the country.

The police are widening their investigation, believing that there are illegal cameras installed by Mr A which have not yet been discovered.

Many of the cameras secretly installed by Mr A were disguised as communications equipment by attaching stickers with the names of specific telecommunications companies in the form of charging adapters.

It turned out that he had installed these cameras next to the water purifier to film the inside of the polling station.

The National Election Commission plans to conduct a final inspection again on the 4th of next month, the day before early voting.

Mr A told the police: “I was trying to monitor the electoral commission’s manipulation of early voter turnout” and “I decided the installation location I wanted to monitor based on my own standards of judgement.”
