Arsenal are prepared to sell forward Viktor Gyokeres for £64 million if a club puts the fee on the table, TuttoJuve reported, as the club positions itself to pursue Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez. Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP ahead of the 2023-24 season after commanding a prolific record in Portugal, netting 97 goals in 102 games before adding 21 goals across all competitions during his debut campaign in England.
Viktor Gyokeres faces £64 million exit valuation
The Swedish international has endured a difficult start to the current campaign, failing to start any of Arsenal’s first six Premier League matches and remaining scoreless across all competitions. According to TuttoJuve reporting, the north London club has slapped a £64 million asking price on the 28-year-old frontman, an evaluation that essentially matches the fee Arsenal paid to sign him when factoring in potential add-ons. Gyokeres is reportedly growing dissatisfied with his lack of starting opportunities under manager Mikel Arteta, who has largely favored Kai Havertz as his primary center-forward.
Intermediaries are already exploring possible destinations in Serie A and the Bundesliga for the striker. However, TuttoJuve noted that Gyokeres would likely prove too expensive for every German side apart from Bayern Munich, who already have Harry Kane entrenched as their starter. Italian clubs rarely drop large sums on transfer fees in the modern market, meaning Arsenal may need to adopt a flexible approach to their valuation to secure a permanent sale.
Julián Álvarez emerges as Arsenal January target
The potential departure of Gyokeres is tied directly to Arsenal’s renewed pursuit of Julián Álvarez. The 26-year-old Argentine striker pushed to leave Atlético Madrid during the summer transfer window with his sights set exclusively on Barcelona, though Atlético point-blank refused to enter negotiations with the Catalan club. A late telephone call from Mikel Arteta failed to convince Álvarez to move to Emirates Stadium, and the forward ultimately remained in Madrid.

Álvarez has since cut a dejected figure in Spain, failing to score a single goal this season while his form has dropped significantly. That lack of output has prompted a shift in valuation. Spanish outlet SPORT reported that the price tag required to unlock Álvarez has dropped to €120 million, down from the €150 million ballpark figures touted during the summer. Reports indicate the player is slowly experiencing a change of heart and is now warming to the idea of joining Arsenal as early as January.
Agent changes fuel Barcelona and Premier League speculation
Adding further complexity to the situation, Julián Álvarez has ended his long-standing professional relationship with agent Fernando Hidalgo and reportedly signed with Javier Pastore, according to coverage from Spanish press. The relationship between Hidalgo and Atlético CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín was reported as fractured beyond repair, with both sides accusing each other of misleading the player.
While the agent switch has set transfer rumors regarding Barcelona into overdrive, Spanish press noted that sporting director Deco suggested the Catalan club’s interest has waned. Although manager Hansi Flick remains an admirer of the Argentine forward, Raphinha has performed strongly as a center-forward alongside backup Gabriel Jesus and young prospect Hamza Abdelkarim. That dynamic leaves the door open for Arsenal to test Atlético’s resolve when the transfer window reopens.
