Florence is gearing up to host the first edition of CiokoFlò,a festival dedicated to artisan chocolate. Piazza Santa Croce will transform into a haven for chocolate lovers from April 3rd to 6th,2025,and again from April 10th to 13th,2025.
A Party of Artisan Chocolate
The event, a collaboration between SGP Grandi Eventi and JDEvents, promises a “journey into taste.” It aims to highlight the tradition of Italian artisan chocolate,with a special focus on the excellence of Florentine and Tuscan products.
Jacopo Vicini, the Councillor for Economic Growth and Tourism of the Municipality of florence, welcomed the initiative, stating:

What to Expect at CiokoFlò
CiokoFlò is set to offer a rich and varied program, designed to be both original and creative. Stefano Pelliciardi, administrator of SGP Grandi Eventi, explained that this edition of CiokoFlò, organized with JD Events, is:

Here’s a taste of what awaits visitors:
- 60 exhibition Stands: Featuring 40 chocolate producers from all over Italy, including representatives from key districts like Turin, Modica, and Perugia.
- The Chocolate Factory: A space were visitors can discover the chocolate-making process, with activities suitable for all ages.
- A Chocolate David: A recreation of Michelangelo’s David, standing over 2 meters tall, made entirely of chocolate.
- Maxi Chocolate Bar: A giant purple chocolate bar as a tribute to Fiorentina, the local football team.
The “Fabbrica del Cioccolato” Experience
The “fabbrica del cioccolato” (chocolate factory) will allow visitors to witness the transformation of cocoa beans into delectable treats. This interactive experience is designed to engage all ages,making it a perfect family outing.
A Chocolate Masterpiece: Michelangelo’s David
Mirco della Vecchia, a sculptor and master chocolatier, is creating a chocolate replica of Michelangelo’s David. He expressed his pride in undertaking this project:
Sono orgoglioso di poter realizzare nuovamente dopo 10 anni il David di michelangelo, un’opera di fama internazionale ma soprattutto molto complessa vista la sua struttura sbilanciata – Le creazioni in cioccolato da Guinness sono la mia specialità e attraverso questa scultura diamo colore e profumo ad una scultura di marmo creando così un contrasto tra la freddezza e la purezza del marmo e il calore avvolgente e il profumo intenso del cioccolato.
