The Festival de la Hispanidad returns to Madrid for its sixth year, offering hundreds of free cultural activities across the capital and surrounding municipalities from October 9 through October 12, 2026. While the event maintains its traditional focus on Hispanic-American culture, the Community of Madrid has relocated several major musical performances to the Madrid Río multi-use esplanade, replacing the Puerta del Sol stage due to an ongoing housing protest that has occupied the central square since September 26, 2026.
Ten Performances Move to Madrid Río Stage
The festival’s musical programming is distributed across three primary venues: Plaza Mayor, Plaza de España, and the newly integrated Madrid Río stage. The move to Madrid Río affects ten performances scheduled between October 9 and October 11, as well as dance conservatory exhibitions slated for October 12. Despite the venue changes, the festival maintains a diverse schedule featuring international and local artists across multiple genres.
On Friday, October 9, the Plaza Mayor hosts the “Pioneros madrileños del pop” gala at 18:00, followed by Xenia Rubinos at 21:30. Simultaneously, Plaza de España features La Santa Cecilia at 19:00 and Aterciopelados at 21:00, while Madrid Río presents Lin Cortés at 19:30 and PATAX at 21:00.

Sebastián Yatra Headlines Saturday at Plaza De España
The schedule continues Saturday, October 10, with a varied roster. The Madrid Río esplanade will host Victorias, La Chica, Los Nikis de la Pradera, and 091. The Plaza Mayor program includes Santi Comet, Ibérica Suite Jazz, and a performance by Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. At Plaza de España, Nat Simons performs at 13:00, followed by a headline set from Sebastián Yatra at 20:30.
Sunday, October 11, brings further performances to the three main stages. Plaza de España features Marta Sánchez, Tipa Tipo, and Los Cumbia Stars. The Plaza Mayor lineup includes Tori Sparks, the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM), and the production “De Nina Simone a La Paquera.” The Madrid Río stage will host Comandante Twin, Jenny and The Mexicats, Aymée Nuviola, and Cimafunk.
Closing Events on October 12
The festival concludes on Monday, October 12, the Día de la Hispanidad. Plaza de España hosts Carlos Baute, Galdrii Pereira, and the cast of Six El Musical. The Plaza Mayor stage will hold the Gala de Estrellas del Flamenco at 20:00, featuring artists including La Moneta, Diana Navarro, Mercedes Ruiz, Olga Pericet, José Maya, and Jesús Carmona.
Beyond these central locations, the festival expands into regional cultural centers. The Pilar Miró center hosts Emilia y Pablo on October 10 and the Ariel Brínguez Quartet’s “American Jazz Standards” on October 12. Additional programming throughout the region includes theater, folklore, visual arts, and literature, complementing the concert schedule.
