Asad Umar Rejects Rumors of Joining People’s Party
Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar has denied rumors of meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari and joining the People’s Party.
Speculations had been circulating on social media that Asad Umar had met with President Asif Ali Zardari and would soon announce his decision to join the People’s Party. However, Asad Umar has rejected these claims in a recent media talk.
Speaking to media representatives outside the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court, Asad Umar expressed his ignorance about Bushra Bibi’s release on a deal, stating, “I don’t know about it, ask Bushra Bibi in this regard, but PTI people say it’s not part of any deal.”
Asad Umar also addressed the rumors of his meeting with President Zardari, saying, “I went on social media last night, and I had a meeting with Mr. Zardari, and I am joining the People’s Party. I have met him, and he is going to join the People’s Party.” He clarified that these claims were false.
The former finance minister emphasized that there is no possibility of him joining any other party in the future, stating, “I have left politics. If I had to do politics, I would have done it in PTI.”
Asad Umar also praised Fawad Chaudhry, saying, “He is a great politician. I had met him a few days ago, so I told him to reduce the firing. He is firing more.”
Asad Umar, who joined PTI in 2012, is considered a close associate of Imran Khan and an important leader of the party. After PTI came to power in 2018, he was given the position of finance minister. However, in 2022, following the vote of no confidence, Asad Umar announced that he would quit politics after the fall of the PTI government.
