ÅSANE, Norway – Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that‍ occurred Monday evening in Åsane, a ⁤district of bergen, after a car collided ‍with a guardrail⁤ at a roundabout near the Gold Mine shopping centre. The incident, which triggered multiple emergency ​calls around 6:30 p.m.,initially found the vehicle unoccupied.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the car abandoned. Witnesses reported seeing three to four individuals fleeing the scene. according to operations manager Bjarte Rebnord, police located a 19-year-old male nearby ⁣who is suspected of being the⁤ driver.

“We are in control of a man we suspect⁢ has been in the car and maybe the driver was. He appears to be intoxicated and is unscathed,” Rebnord stated‍ around 7 p.m. Monday.The individual was taken for blood alcohol⁣ testing, and his driver’s license will be temporarily confiscated, Rebnord confirmed.

Police Chief Kent-Ove Haaland indicated that ​a drone was deployed to assist in the search for ⁤the other occupants, in addition to ‌ground patrols.

“Here the police suspect ⁢high speed. The car has driven into ​a sign and crashed with the auto⁣ guard,” Haaland said.

Search Continues for Other occupants

Authorities have not ⁤yet persistent if any of the car’s passengers sustained injuries.

“If they are injured, it is indeed easier,” Haaland told reporters, implying that locating⁢ injured individuals is a priority.

As of 7:50 ⁢p.m., the other individuals believed to be in the vehicle‍ had not been​ located. “We are still looking, but will ⁤probably be moving into the investigative track soon,” Rebnord stated.
