Promote collective strength

This ASEAN Future Forum has created a timely framework for different sectors to contribute their opinions, especially as ASEAN moves towards the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, emphasized in the Kuala Lumpur Declaration when Malaysia chaired it. ASEAN 10 years ago.

The ASEAN Future Forum 2024 is a 1.5 discussion channel, so I look forward to interesting exchanges of views, including novel ideas, contributing to our common efforts in strengthening the Community. ASEAN coin.

The ASEAN Community Vision beyond 2025 maps out the path to building an ASEAN Community over the next two decades. It is a forward-looking roadmap that clearly demonstrates ASEAN’s goals and aspirations for stronger consolidation, integration and cohesion within ASEAN as a community.

The continued implementation of the ASEAN Vision beyond 2025 creates strategic opportunities to strengthen and enhance the ASEAN Community, promoting deeper regional integration and cooperation among member states. By maintaining the momentum built through previous initiatives, ASEAN can leverage its collective strength and address emerging challenges in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

An important aspect of promoting the ASEAN Vision is inclusive growth and development across the region. Through appropriate policies and initiatives, ASEAN can narrow the development gap among member states, ensuring that the benefits of economic progress are shared equitably among all constituents. society. This inclusiveness not only promotes social cohesion but also enhances the sustainability of the ASEAN Community in the face of intra-regional disparities.

Furthermore, promoting the ASEAN Vision can facilitate greater connectivity and integration, both within ASEAN and with external partners. Solidarity and central role

Southeast Asia is a region of interest to many large companies in the world. This is not surprising because the interaction between political, economic and strategic dynamics occurring in this region has implications at the global level. This can be both a challenge and an opportunity for ASEAN. An existing challenge is that we try to ensure that common interests in ASEAN are not overshadowed by the interests of other countries that want to promote their influence in the region.

However, in that context, there will still be opportunities. ASEAN can develop based on its interests and strengthen existing relationships, and can act as a bridge between partners. ASEAN has the advantage of making good use of its relationships with dialogue partners, relationships that have been cultivated for a long time and continue to be promoted for the benefit of the region. In essence, ASEAN’s central role will be the key for ASEAN to resolve complex regional and international issues and challenges.

ASEAN always values solidarity among member countries and promotes its central role when solving regional problems. The spirit of solidarity among members, a core value of ASEAN, is prioritized because it has a tangible impact on ASEAN’s strength and ability to implement proposed plans and strategies to bring about new developments. positive development for the region. Solidarity and centrality are ASEAN’s approach when solving regional problems. This approach needs to be maintained on ASEAN’s development path.

Malaysia and Vietnam have a strong bilateral relationship. We just celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations last year. The two countries are partners at both the bilateral and regional levels through ASEAN and we see that Vietnam makes positive contributions when cooperating with other ASEAN members towards a strong and sustainable ASEAN Community. .

We emphasize that the ASEAN Future Forum 2024 is the initiative of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh himself. This shows that this effort of Vietnam through channel 1.5 has received support from senior leaders. This is just one example of Vietnam’s efforts to contribute to the development of the ASEAN Community. Vietnam commits and cooperates with other ASEAN members for this goal.
