Author’s foreword

Given the many challenges currently facing the pig industry and the critical points in the production chain that affect pork producers, it is important to design solutions and strategic plans that can address fundamentally with the challenges facing the pig industry.

African swine fever (ASF) is a highly contagious and fatal viral disease that can infect domestic and wild pigs of all ages, and is widespread in most pork-producing countries, greatly affecting the pig industry worldwide. Therefore, this disease should be of interest to all of us who work in the field, such as producers, veterinarians, engineers, and nutritionists, and we should receive appropriate training on disease prevention and control.

Since ASF is not the only threat to farm health and productivity, there is a need to be vigilant about adapting production systems according to protocols and strategic plans to prevent and prevent the introduction of other pathogens. We have made every effort to provide our readers with up-to-date practical information, and this book covers the basics of ASF epidemiology and diagnosis, as well as how to prevent the introduction of important pathogens and, unfortunately, the introduction of ASF. strategies and plans that can be followed to resume production on destroyed farms.

In this book, solutions are presented through a variety of approaches, from engineering and strategic farm design to production flow planning and breeding management. The purpose of this book is to provide practical and clear information so that readers can solve farm disease problems realistically and effectively while sharing information about managing serious diseases such as ASF on farms.

In this book, we provide the latest solutions and comprehensive advice on how to operate within an efficient production model when faced with a crisis such as the outbreak of ASF, based on our extensive experience in the field. It is hoped that this book will be easy to read, interesting and, above all, useful, and that it will act as a reference for the management and control of important situations in the pig farming industry today and in the future. .
