Ashes 2021-22: Usman Khawaja scores a century, Broad takes five wickets; Best score for Australia in Sydney

Sydney: Australia declared 416 in the fourth Test of the Ashes Series. Usman Khawaja’s century in Sydney helped Australia. Steven Smith 67 (Steven Smith) English pacer Stuart Broad took five wickets. In reply, England were stumped on the second day for 13 not out.

Australia started the second day at 126 for three. After a sluggish start, the Khawaja-Smith duo led the team beautifully. Smith was bowled by Broad but Khawaja completed his ninth Test century. Both were returned by Broad. Khawaja’s innings consisted of 13 boundaries.

Later Cameron Green (5) and Alexis Carey (13) were unable to make a significant contribution. But captain Pat Cummins (24), Mitchell Starc (34) and Nathan Lyon (16) crossed the 400 mark. In addition to Broad, James Anderson, Mark Wood and Joe Root took one wicket each.

In reply, Haseeb Hameed (2) and Zack Crowley (2) were at the crease for England. Australia lost the wickets of David Warner (30), Marcus Harris (38) and Marnus Labushen (28) yesterday.
