Ubisoft Delays Release Date of Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, one of the most anticipated games of 2024, has been surrounded by controversy, particularly among Japanese gamers. The game’s storyline, which features a black samurai and a female ninja, has been criticized for its historical inaccuracies. The main character, Yasuke, is based on a real historical figure, but the game’s narrative has been accused of deviating from the truth.
Due to the backlash, Ubisoft has announced that the release date of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be postponed by three months. The game was originally scheduled to be released on November 12, 2024, but it will now be available on February 14, 2025.
According to a statement from Ubisoft, the game development team needs more time to improve and develop the game to create a better experience for fans. The company has also confirmed that important features of the game will be developed to the next level.
In addition to the delay, Ubisoft has also announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on Steam on day one. This is a departure from the company’s previous strategy, which saw some of its AAA titles, such as Star Wars Outlaws, not being sold on Steam at launch. Pre-order customers will be able to request a full refund, and future pre-order customers will receive the game’s first DLC for free.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
