ASUS Offers an Array of Motherboards and Video Cards with Varied Choices in Lineup

ASUS is known for its wide range of motherboards and video cards. In addition to PC components and peripherals, they also offer a wide range of products including cases, CPU coolers, power supplies, gaming devices, and LCD monitors. Furthermore, in recent years, the development of branding by grade such as “ROG”, “TUF” and “Prime” has become widespread. The lineup is so varied that you’ll be spoiled for choice.

If you’re building your own PC for the first time, choose an easy-to-use and highly reliable ASUS product, or if you’ve tried using all kinds of components, but still want an ASUS product. people say, “I don’t know which product to buy.” This is the sadness of a great producer. Therefore, this time, we focused on the name of the series and prepared examples of three stages: entry/midrange/high-end “Shochikubai”. However, even though I have described it as a high-end product, it would be more accurate to describe its capabilities as mid-to-ultra high-end.

“Plum” course with “Prime” which wisely kept dimensions and budget low

The first is an entry-level configuration using the i5-14600K, a mid-range model of the Intel Core processor (14th generation) and ASUS’s compact “Prime AP201 TG” case. It can be said to be a modern entry-level gaming PC that has a nice video card and is also distinctive in its appearance.

PC of the course “Plum” built around the Prime series. The case is a white model of the latest model “Prime AP201 TG” with a tempered glass side panel. A product with excellent cooling performance that uses a lot of network

Although this case is compact, you can use a 36cm radiator and a 33.8cm card. Mesh side panel ventilation reduces internal heat buildup that often occurs in small suitcases. Plus, since the side panel is made of tempered glass, you can enjoy “showing off” the inside of your PC and the RGB LED lighting.

The CPU is Core i5-14600K. As of December 2023, the latest model without K has not been released, so the motherboard used this time is “PRIME B760M-A D4”. Although it is an entry-class product, it has excellent expandability and usability.

Even though it is a plum course, it is important that it looks good since it is a self-made PC. Therefore, this time we selected a white model to create a PC based on the currently trending white color. For CPU cooling I chose the ROG STRIX LC II 240 WHITE, which matches the color of the case.

The motherboard is the PRIME B760M-A D4, which has a black board with a white heatsink. Since the CPU is so-called “K equipped”, it is best to use a motherboard equipped with a Z790 chipset, but to prioritize costs, this model uses a B760 chipset and DDR4 SDRAM.

Although it is MicroATX, there are a total of 3 PCI Express slots and the front USB also supports TYPE-C, making it highly expandable. This time we will incorporate a video card, but this is actually a truly amazing motherboard, as it can output two screens via HDMI even in a configuration without a video card to keep the budget even lower.

The video card is “ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti OC Edition 8GB GDDR” equipped with GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. Considering the CPU performance, you can play many games in Full HD resolution without stress and you can also take advantage of the unique frame rate enhancement technology of the GeForce 40 series.

The video card is “ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti OC Edition 8GB GDDR”. The latest Prime power supply “ASUS Prime 750W Gold” is not Prime, but it is of the right quality. Although it is compact in size with a depth of 15cm, it is compatible with the latest ATX3.0. The sides are painted black and white, so you can enjoy two designs in one product by changing the installation direction.[Composizione delle parti del corso Prime “Plum”]CPUCore i5-14600K (core 6P + 8E / 20 threads) Motherboard PRIME B760M- A D4 (Intel B760) CPU cooler ROG STRIX LC II 240 ARGB WE J

In this case, it is recommended to install in the following order: motherboard → power supply → water cooling. The key is to connect the auxiliary power cable to the top left of the motherboard before the water cooling radiator, but since this is a fully modular power supply, it’s even easier to install it after first connecting the 8-pin cable to the board mother.

There weren’t a particularly large number of case fans, so there was plenty of room for rear wiring. If I were more particular about the look, I would have wanted to make the power cables white too, but there are a lot of hidden parts, so this time I left them as they are.

Actual performance, but sufficient performance for each benchmark. Even though it has been called an “entry” in terms of planning, it seems like it could be said to be in the upper mid-range. This configuration will suit people who want to keep their PC on their desk but also want a certain level of performance. The white color of the case is beautiful and the RGB light coming from the fan and water cooling head filtering through the mesh is not too bright and adds color to the environment around the PC desk.

If you plan to use it extensively for creative purposes, it would be a good idea to increase or increase the capacity of the memory or SSD. The power supply also supports 12VHPWR (16-pin) auxiliary power, making it easy to consider upgrading to an RTX 4070-class or higher video card.

The “bamboo” main course of “TUF GAMING” with the right configuration for all players

The next model we will present is the one compiled by TUF GAMING. TUF GAMING is characterized not only by good design but also by excellent cost performance.

“Bamboo” PC course compiled by TUF GAMING

The main motherboard is “TUF GAMING B760-PLUS WIFI”. Despite being a B760, the power circuit is powerful and uses 12+1 DrMOS power phases. It’s also fully compatible with the Core i7-14700K CPU used in this example. The memory is DDR5 and also covers OC memory up to 7200MHz. If you want to take on the CPU OC challenge, you’ll need a Z790 motherboard, but this choice represents the perfect balance of versatility and cost.

The CPU is Core i7-14700K. The motherboard that has more E cores than the previous generation and has much improved performance is “TUF GAMING B760-PLUS WIFI”. Not compatible with overclocking, but equipped with a safe power circuit even in the i9/i7 class[Configurazione parti corso TUF GAMING “Bamboo”]CPUCore i7-14700K (8P+12E core/28 thread) TUF GAMING B760- PLUS WIFI motherboard (Intel B760) TUF GAMING LC II 360 ARGB CPU heatsink

The video card and CPU cooler have been updated from Ume course and are called “TUF-RTX4070-12G-GAMING”. Another point is that the auxiliary power supply is a widely used 8 pin x 1. Since the CPU is a semi-high-end Core i7, I upgraded the CPU cooler and selected a simple “TUF GAMING LC II 360 ARGB” liquid cooler.

To accommodate a large video card and CPU cooler, the case is a spacious “TUF GAMING GT502”. It is a “dual chamber” type product with glass panels on the front and sides, and a separate block to store the motherboard and video card, and a block to store the power supply and cables.

TUF GAMING GT502 used on the bamboo field. Viewed from the front, the left side is the space for installing the motherboard and cards, while the right side is the space for the power supply, memory and rear wiring.

Since it can be equipped with a large number of case fans, it appears to be able to prevent the situation where the heat inside the PC has difficulty escaping, which is common in cases that use a lot of glass panels, when many panels high the end parts are used. This time we placed the water cooling system radiator vertically on the side of the case instead of on the top of the case, but if we wanted to further increase heat dissipation, we could add a case fan at the top or rear and place on the bottom for the air intake. It is recommended to add 1 to 3 pieces. Case fans from the same TUF GAMING brand are also on sale, making it easy to create a unified design.

Inside the left and right sides of the main unit. The radiator was placed vertically in the space on the left. Big impact when the LED lights up. You can also add more fans in the space on the right side.

The carrying strap attached to the top of the TUF GAMING GT502 is a more convenient gimmick than you might think. During assembly, you can use the carrying strap to move the direction of the case, making it convenient when working by going back and forth between the motherboard side and the power supply side of the dual chamber. Also, with a case this size, it can be difficult to decide whether to put it on a desk or under it, but thanks to the carrying strap it’s much easier to raise and lower the case.

In terms of performance, the new generation Core i7 has further evolved with the addition of E cores. Equipped with the GeForce RTX 4070, you can comfortably play in WQHD for general gaming, and the 4K environment is also in the sights for titles that can use DLSS3 exclusive to the GeForce RTX 40 series.

It has a fun design that allows you to “show off” the internal parts and lighting, so if you have desk space, you should definitely place it on top of your desk. Since the two sides are glass panels, lighting that effectively uses the fans equipped with RGB LEDs will be interesting.
