Park, lawyer Nam was specified as “a lawyer and former vice chairman of the Central Youth Committee of a certain political party.” In fact, if you look at the press release of the Grand National Party on June 19, 2008, the name of lawyer Nam appears on the list of vice-chairmen of the Central Youth Committee that Kang Jae-seop at the time of the party conferred a letter of appointment.

The ruling is a judgment in a case in which Attorney Nam was charged with lobbying for the conversion of Daejang-dong development from LH’s public development to private development in 2009. According to the prosecution’s indictment, Attorney Nam met with the representative of a real estate development company and said, “I will play a role in making LH Corporation (Korea Land & Housing Corporation) abandon the Daejang-dong development project. I know the lawmakers belonging to the Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Committee, and I can move people I know to get LH Corporation out of the business,” he said, demanding 1.5 billion won in return. However, the court said, “The only direct evidence of the charges is the statement of the representative of the enforcement company who met with lawyer Nam. It is difficult to believe that he was in a position to be asked to lobby for political parties until he received it.”

The prosecution appealed, but in March 2016, the 4th Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court dismissed the appeal and confirmed the innocence of Attorney Nam. At that time, the presiding judge of the appellate court was Choi Jae-hyung, former chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection, who is currently a candidate for the People’s Power presidential election.

Lawyer Nam is known to have been involved in the development project as the de facto owner of the Hwacheon Daeyu affiliate even after the Daejang-dong development project was switched from private development to public development. Attorney Nam is known to have left the country.
