Australian Women Dominate Indian Women with Complete Series Victory

Mumbai: A complete victory in the ODI series for the Australian women who toured India. In the third and final match, the Indian women faced a huge defeat.

Australia lost by 190 runs against India in the third match. After winning the first two games of the series, the visitors took a 3-0 lead with victory yesterday.

Chasing the Australians by 339 runs, India were bowled out for 148 runs. No one in the Indian ranks even tried to fight. Deepti Sharma (25) was standing unbeaten at one end when the last wicket fell. Among other stars, only Smriti Mandana (29) and Jemima Rodrigues showed a better performance. Richa Ghosh, the star of the century in the second ODI, was dismissed after scoring 19 runs. Pooja Vastrakar’s innings ended on 14 runs.

When the Australian bowlers got the better of each other, the Indian women surrendered without even a fight. With five wickets falling before reaching 100 runs, the hope of victory was lost. We could only know later how deep the loss would be. For Australia, Georgia Wareham led the way with a three-wicket haul.

For Australia who won the toss and elected to bat first, the innings was strengthened as the openers held on. Phoebe Lichfield (119 off 125 balls) scored a century and heroine Alyssa Healy (82) came out with a half-century performance. Both of them scored 189 runs in 28.5 overs for the first wicket. The visitors completed the allotted 50 overs by scoring 338 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Apart from Lichfield’s century, Ashley Gardner (30) and Annabelle Sutherland (23) also gave good performances. Wareham (11) and Alana King (26) remained unbeaten. Among Indian bowlers, Shreyanka Patil took the lead with three wickets.
