Awarded the Silver Tower Order of Merit for Energy Efficiency Improvement Lee Ki-soo, Vice President of Samsung Electronics

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the ‘2021 Korea Energy Awards’ event at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas Hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 17th and awarded 108 points to individuals and institutions that contributed to the improvement of energy efficiency and the development of the new and renewable energy industry.

The Korea Energy Award is the largest government award in the energy sector, awarded by combining the Korea Energy Efficiency Award (1975-) and the Korea Renewable Energy Award (2007-) since 2018.

The Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Lee Ki-soo, vice president of Samsung Electronics.

Vice President Lee has been recognized for his contribution to developing the best energy-efficient products at home and abroad, including the launch of first-class energy products, devoted to the field of energy efficiency development for over 30 years.

The Iron Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit went to Kang Cheol-ho, former CEO of Hyundai Energy Solutions, who contributed to the supply of high-efficiency solar module products through bold and preemptive investment in R&D and strengthening the high-output competitiveness of domestic modules.

In addition, Junhee Lee, CEO of Woojin Electric, who contributed to the improvement of energy efficiency and public safety by introducing an amorphous core and developing a high-efficiency amorphous pole transformer for the first time in Korea, was awarded the Order of Industrial Service Merit.

In addition, industrial awards were awarded to four people including Kim Kwang-soo, CEO of Miura Korea Industries, Yang Jong-dae, CEO of Energy, Jeong Jeong-seok, CEO of Dongho Engineering, and Ahn Jae-hwan, CEO of Kumkang Electric Industry.

An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, “In order to achieve carbon neutrality and the National Greenhouse Gas Target (NDC), we will actively promote the expansion of new and renewable energy and energy efficiency improvement.” We plan to carry out digitalization without any setbacks,” he said.
