Singer Yoo Yeol, a beloved artist from the 80s, is on the road to recovery after undergoing a lung transplant. The 63-year-old singer, who rose to fame after appearing on MBC’s ‘University Song Festival’, has been dealing with health issues for several years.
According to the music industry, Yoo Yeol recently underwent lung transplant surgery and is now recovering. Lee Du-heon, a member of the folk group Five Fingers and a close friend of Yoo Yeol, shared an update on his social media account, stating that Yoo Yeol’s voice has returned to its former state.
Last year, Yoo Yeol appeared in a video on a church YouTube channel, sparking concern among fans due to his frail appearance. At the time, he revealed that he had been experiencing health problems for six years, including issues with his vocal cords and pulmonary fibrosis, which led to pneumonia and a significant weight loss.
Yoo Yeol’s health struggles had led to rumors about his passing, but these were quickly debunked as “fake news” by the church’s YouTube channel.
Yoo Yeol began his music career after winning the grand prize at the MBC ‘University Music Festival’ in 1986. He went on to win the Singer of the Year award at the KBS Music Awards in 2005 and established the production company Yoo Yeol Company, where he created the children’s musical ‘The Bremen Town Musicians.’
