Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show: Insomnia, Smashburgers & More

Bad Bunny Prepares for Super Bowl Halftime Show Amidst Smashburgers and Sleepless Nights

Bad Bunny is putting the finishing touches on his highly anticipated Super Bowl LX Halftime Show performance, scheduled for Sunday, February 8th, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The Grammy-award winning artist revealed a rather unconventional preparation routine: a steady diet of smashburgers and a significant lack of sleep.

Speaking with Apple Music, Bad Bunny confessed, “Last night I couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about it” at 4 a.m. Despite the pre-show anxieties, he anticipates a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere. “It’s going to be a huge party,” he said. “Of course I will have a lot of guests—my family and friends or all the Latino community around the world.”

The Puerto Rican superstar emphasized the inclusive nature of his performance, suggesting that attendees don’t need to brush up on their Spanish to enjoy the show. “It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be easy,” he stated. “I know that I told them that they had four months to learn Spanish [but] hey don’t even have to learn Spanish. It’s better if they learn to dance. There’s no better dance than the one that comes from the heart. That’s the only thing they need to worry about and enjoy.”

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl set is the culmination of his ongoing world tour supporting his critically acclaimed album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos. The album recently made history by becoming the first non-English LP to win Album of the Year at the Grammys. Reflecting on the upcoming performance, he expressed a desire to simply enjoy the moment. “I want to think that it’s just 13 minutes doing something that I love, that I like, and it’s just like that,” he explained. “I’m trying to enjoy it and I know that I’m going to have fun. All the crew, all the people. They’re going to have fun that day. That’s what I’m trying to focus. Just enjoy the moment, enjoy what is happening, what I’m doing. Trying not to put pressure or something on it.”

The Super Bowl LXI festivities will kick off before Bad Bunny takes the stage with a performance by Green Day during the opening ceremony. Charlie Puth is slated to sing the national anthem, Brandi Carlile will perform “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones will deliver a rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

Bad Bunny offered a glimpse into his vision for the show, stating his intention to showcase his culture. “I want to bring to the stage, of course, a lot of my culture, but I don’t want to give any spoilers,” he said.
