New Delhi: Olympic medalist wrestler Bajrang Poonia has been suspended. The action belongs to the National Anti-Doping Agency. The action has been taken after the actor was not ready for the anti-drug test. Bajrang lost to Rohit Kumar in the trials held in Sonipat on March 10. The actor went back in anger.

The actor has been given time till May 7 to give an explanation on the action of Bajrang Punia. The athlete will not be able to participate in any more wrestling matches or trials during the suspension period. With this, Bajrang Punia’s participation in the Paris Olympics starting in July is in doubt.

Qualifying competitions for participation in the Paris Olympics will begin this month in Istanbul. Months ago, Poonia had claimed in a video that the kit provided by NADA for collecting samples has expired. Bajrang Poonia is one of the main wrestlers who protested against the former president of the wrestling federation, Brij Bhushan.

Bajrang Punia, who took part in the trials ahead of the Olympic qualifier held in Sonipat on October 10 last month, was suspended for allegedly not providing a urine sample. The NADA informed Bajrang Poonia that if he did not provide an explanation by Tuesday, the decision would be left to the disciplinary committee, and if his non-cooperation continued, he would be banned from further matches.

Bajrang Poonia was at the forefront of the wrestlers’ battle against the former president of the wrestling federation, Brijbhushan Singh. The actor returned the Padma Shri award in support of retired wrestler Sakshi Malik. The actor returned that day leaving the Padma Shri award on the footpath in front of the Prime Minister’s residence.
