Larian Studio plans to introduce an evil ending and modding tools to “Baldur’s Gate 3” via a new patch.

Larian Studio expressed its gratitude for winning several major GOTY awards, including BAFTA, through Steam News on the 18th, and explained the content of future patches and the studio’s direction. Larian Studio is preparing Patch 7, which includes an evil ending, modding tools, bug improvements, etc., and is also working on two new projects. In the upcoming Patch 7, the evil story ending, which has been rated as a a little poor, it will be improved. The evil-tinged ending can be experienced not only with the original “Dark Impulse” character but also with a custom user-created character, and studio CEO Swen Vincke said that the final content is “truly evil.”▲ Screenshot Baldur’s Gate 3 development screenshot (photo source: Steam store page)

Additionally, the official Baldur’s Gate 3 modding tool will also be introduced for the first time. Baldur’s Gate 3 mods are still being actively created, but there have been issues such as the mode becoming unstable depending on the patch. We plan to improve stability and allow more freedom in mod creation by supporting official modding tools. Furthermore, Patch 7 also includes various bug patches.

Furthermore, since the scope of the Patch 7 update is large and the content is extensive, Larian Studio plans to conduct a private test of the PC version as well. The testing schedule will be released in the coming weeks and it is expected that only a portion of players from around the world will participate. Furthermore, Larian Studio is also developing cross-play and photo mode of the Baldur’s Gate 3 platform. However, it seems that this feature will not be added in Patch 7.

Meanwhile, Larian Studio will no longer produce Baldur’s Gate-related titles after Baldur’s Gate 3. They said that they are already developing two new projects and will reveal them in the future. Considering the expression “I decided to take the opportunity to develop my own IP”, it is assumed that this is a completely new work or a title related to the developer’s previous Divinity series.

“When I look at the plans, I think what we are working on right now will be our best work,” said Sven Wienke, CEO of Larian Studio “We are already eager to show it to everyone, but it’s disappointing we have to wait for it to be implemented” .
