Denpasar, Bali – In a notable move to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence, the Ministry of Home Affairs has distributed a staggering 10 million Red and White flags across Denpasar, Bali.The initiative, which also marks the 67th anniversary of Bali province, aims to deeply resonate with the nation’s ancient struggle and foster a renewed sense of national pride.
Rekindling the Spirit of Independence: A Deeper Meaning
Director General of Politics and general Government at the ministry of Home Affairs,Bahtiar,emphasized that the flag distribution transcends a mere ceremonial event. “This independence was not freely given; it is rooted in history from significant historical places,” Bahtiar stated,underscoring the profound historical context behind the national flag and the sacrifices made to achieve it.The initiative is designed to actively rekindle the spirit of independence within the hearts of all Indonesians.
A Record-Breaking Movement with National Reach
The distribution Movement of 10 Million Red and White Flags, which commenced in 2022, has already achieved a remarkable feat by setting a record at the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) for the most flags distributed nationally. As its inception, the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) has diligently organized this activity annually, extending its reach from the westernmost province of Aceh to the easternmost region of Papua. This widespread distribution ensures that the message of national unity and historical remembrance permeates every corner of the archipelago.
Bali: A Symbol of Resilience and Unity
Bali was strategically selected as the focal point for this year’s flag distribution. Bahtiar highlighted the island’s unique position, noting that “Bali, with its diverse tourist destinations, is a region renowned for its strong fighting spirit in the struggle against colonialism.” This choice serves to honor Bali’s historical contributions and leverage its vibrant cultural landscape to amplify the national message.
A Call to National Unity: Raising the Flag Together
To further amplify the impact of the 10 million flag distribution, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a nationwide call to action. The public, government agencies, and the private sector are urged to simultaneously raise the Indonesian flag from august 1 to august 31, 2025. This collective act of flag-raising is intended to create a powerful visual depiction of national unity and shared pride during the anniversary month.
Bahtiar concluded by expressing his sincere gratitude to the public and the Bali provincial government for their invaluable support in making the distribution of 10 million Indonesian flags a resounding success. “I would like to thank the Bali provincial government, on behalf of the Minister of Home Affairs, Police General Tito Karnavian, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, for wishing Bali a happy 67th anniversary, which also coincides with the launch of the Distribution of 10 Million Indonesian Flags. I am grateful,” he stated,acknowledging the collaborative spirit that underpinned the event.
