The International Theater Festival “Baltic House” opened in Saint Petersburg, launching a program featuring nine productions from China, India, and several Russian regions under this year’s “Festival of Festivals” theme.

International Troupes Perform Productions from China and India
The Shenxi Folk Art Theater from China opened the festival. The lineup includes nine acclaimed productions selected from Russian and international theater festivals.
Performers and troupes from China, India, and various Russian regions will stage productions. The State Academic Mossovet Theater will close the program with the premiere of The Seagull
, directed by People’s Artist of the RSFSR Andrei Konchalovsky.
Cultural Exchange Events in Saint Petersburg
The Baltic House Festival lobby is hosting presentations from participating theaters alongside National Culture Days. The schedule includes lectures focusing on Chinese and Indian theater.

A dedicated Theater School for young specialists from Russian-language theaters across CIS countries is operating during the event. The festival runs as part of the Year of St. Petersburg Culture events for 2026.
Russian Culture Ministries Support the Long Running Festival
The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the St. Petersburg Culture Committee provide support for the event. The Baltic House Festival has operated since 1991, establishing itself as the first annual international theater festival in modern Russian history.
