Bang & Olufsen Centennial: Beolab 90 Limited Edition Unveiled

Bang & Olufsen has concluded its centennial anniversary celebrations with the release of the final two iterations of its Beolab 90 standing speakers. Part of the Atelier centenary series, the Beolab 90 Monarch and Zenith editions are designed as sculptural objects that combine high-fidelity audio with exclusive materials.

A pair of these limited-edition speakers is priced at $450,000. Both the Monarch and Zenith versions are strictly limited to 10 pairs each.

Technical Architecture of the Beolab 90

The limited editions are built upon the architecture of the classic Beolab 90, which utilizes an angular, 360-degree design. This configuration allows drivers to fire in multiple directions to disperse sound throughout a room. The speakers deliver 8,200 watts of power.

Each tower houses a total of 18 drivers, consisting of the following components:

• Seven 30mm tweeters
• Seven 8.6cm midrange drivers
• Three 21cm side and rear woofers
• One 26cm front woofer

The Monarch and Zenith Editions

The Beolab 90 Monarch Edition draws inspiration from Danish furniture. It features rosewood lamellas paired with precision-engineered aluminium components. The design includes semi-transparent fabric sections that reveal the internal drivers, while ochre-coloured aluminium crowns are used to highlight the balance of natural and engineered materials.

The Beolab 90 Zenith Edition is described as a symphony of pearls. This iteration utilizes 289 aluminium spheres and mother-of-pearl inlays to create a tactile, layered appearance. The facemask is constructed from machined aluminium treated with a dark grey anodised finish and a pearl blast, which Bang & Olufsen states gives the speaker the appearance of an oyster shell.

The Atelier Centenary Series

The Monarch and Zenith models are the final additions to a five-part series of luxury speakers. Three other editions—the Titan, Shadow, and Mirage—were released in 2025 to mark the start of the 100-year celebration.

The Titan edition features a 143-pound cabinet that was sandblasted using crushed volcanic rock particles. This cabinet is surrounded by aluminium in either matte or polished finishes that curve around the speaker’s exterior and subwoofers.

Additional Centennial Releases

Beyond the high-end Beolab 90 series, Bang & Olufsen released three more accessible products to commemorate its 100th birthday. These included:

• Beoplay H100 headphones featuring exclusive leather touches.
• Beosound A5 wireless speakers with a special weave.
• Beosound A9 speakers featuring a unique Kvadrat Centennial Cadence fabric.
