A firefighter in Santa Susanna, Spain, died Sunday while fighting a fire at a hotel on Paseo Marítimo, according to the Generalitat Fire Department. authorities responded to the incident around 7:30 a.m., mobilizing eight land crews.
Local police and hotel staff confirmed the complete evacuation of the establishment, which housed about 250 people. Firefighters initiated operations to extinguish the blaze, which originated in the basement. A team of three firefighters entered the building.

Shortly after, one of the three firefighters was reported missing. Search efforts intensified, focusing on areas with heavy smoke. Firefighters broke skylights to improve ventilation.
After bringing the fire under control, the missing firefighter was found and evacuated. Medical personnel from the Medical Emergency System (SEM),including a medical helicopter,provided assistance. The firefighter was in cardiorespiratory arrest and, despite resuscitation attempts, died at the scene. The incident highlights the dangers of hotel fire incidents and the importance of fire safety.
