BayCare and Northwestern Medicine Join Forces to Enhance Florida healthcare Access

BayCare and Northwestern Medicine, two major US health systems, have announced a partnership to broaden access to medical treatment and advance clinical research in West Central Florida. The collaboration also seeks to improve training and education opportunities for physicians in the region, addressing growing patient demands.
The initiative aligns with BayCare’s growth strategy, particularly in the Tampa Bay area. Both organizations have signed a definitive agreement and initiated the first phase, concentrating on professional growth for clinicians and advancements in clinical research. The proclamation occurred June 5 at Tampa Bay Park,where baycare recently acquired three office buildings.

Stephanie conners, BayCare president and CEO, emphasized the long-term vision behind the partnership. “West Central Florida deserves more access to academic medicine,” Conners said, adding that the collaboration with northwestern Medicine will accelerate BayCare’s trajectory as an academic health system.
Howard Chrisman, president and CEO of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, highlighted the shared commitment to patient care. “We are focused on collaborating with like-minded organizations that are driven by providing patients with greater access to world-class compassionate care, closer to where they live and work,” Chrisman said. He added that the partnership offers an possibility to train the next generation of medical professionals and transform clinical offerings in West central Florida.
Northwestern Medicine includes 11 hospitals and over 200 ambulatory and diagnostic sites, with Northwestern Memorial Hospital as its flagship facility. BayCare operates 16 hospitals and numerous other facilities. The partnership will not alter BayCare’s ownership, leadership, or board composition.
BayCare previously partnered with Cadence to launch a remote patient monitoring program.
