Behind Closed Doors: The Explosive Truth Revealed from the Parliamentary Committee Meeting
Parliamentary Committee for Constitutional Amendments Meeting: Inside Story
The details of the 3-hour long meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Constitutional Amendments have been revealed.
During the meeting, a dialogue took place between Bilawal and Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Bilawal emphasized that the proposed amendments are not driven by personal or political interests, but rather by the national interest and the dignity of the Parliament.
Bilawal stated, “You are respected, even if you do not support the amendments. The Parliament will function with full force, and there is no clause in the amendments that you are not aware of. You were consulted until 3 o’clock at night, and when you agree in principle, why the delay?”
Maulana Fazlur Rehman responded by saying that while they have an agreement in principle, the government should not rush the process. Bilawal suggested that they sit down together to address any potential issues and remove any defects.
Bilawal questioned Barrister Gohar and other PTI leaders, asking if they have the authority to make reforms. He also inquired about their stance on the founder’s recent targeting of the Chief Justice and Army Chief in Quetta.
The PTI leaders remained silent in response to Bilawal’s questions and did not provide any answers.
Shibli Faraz paid tribute to former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Ms Benazir Bhutto, and Maulana Mufti Mehmood, acknowledging their roles in the constitution. He also recognized the contributions of Bilawal Bhutto, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Amil Wali.
Bilawal replied, “When you are in the opposition, you praise my grandfather, mother, and us, but you forget the ideas of Akran when you are in government.”
The meeting was attended by the largest number of PTI leaders and lasted the longest time.
It is worth noting that the government delegations’ efforts, contacts, and negotiations have failed over the past few days, resulting in the indefinite postponement of the constitutional amendments.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif also acknowledged last night that Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not support the government in the amendments.
