[서울=뉴시스] Reporter Lee Myung-dong = It has been claimed that North Korean soldiers deployed to Russia are addicted to pornography in a relaxed internet control environment.

Gideon Lackman, chief foreign affairs commentator for the Financial Times (FT), quoted a reliable source on social media on the 6th and said regarding the North Korean soldiers who came to Russia, “They are addicted to pornography.”

Lackman cited North Korea’s Internet environment as the cause of this phenomenon and explained, “North Korean soldiers deployed to Russia are said to have never freely accessed the Internet before.”

According to Politico, U.S. Department of Defense spokesman Charlie Dietz said, “We cannot confirm North Korea’s Internet usage habits or actual days,” and added, “The Department of Defense is only interested in serious aspects of the military relationship between North Korea and Russia, which are waging a war in Ukraine.” I answered.

“When it comes to internet access issues, it’s best to ask Russia,” Dietz said. “Our focus right now is on supporting Ukraine and addressing more serious regional security issues.”

Even in Russia, Internet access is not as free as in the world. However, compared to North Korea, which allows only the most restrictive Internet access in the world, it is on the liberal side.

North Korea has been sending troops to Russia since the end of last month. The number of North Korean troops currently residing in Russia is estimated to be around 10,000, and they are expected to be primarily responsible for recovering Kursk Oblast, mainland Russia, which was lost to Ukraine.

The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that the world had entered a new era of instability, saying that there had been the first exchange of fire with North Korean soldiers.

A U.S. government official informed the New York Times (NYT) that North Korean troops first engaged in combat with Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region, but many of them were killed.

A high-ranking Ukrainian official believed that the North Korean military conducted limited engagements with the Russian 810th Independent Guards Naval Infantry Brigade for reconnaissance purposes.
