Senior Actor Lee Hai-sheng Passes Away at 83
Lee Hai-sheng, a veteran actor who spent many years working with TVB, has passed away at the age of 83. According to reports, Lee Hai-sheng’s skin ulcerated due to a sore on his back, which later became infected with bacteria, ultimately leading to his passing.
Early Life and Career
Lee Hai-sheng was a bodybuilder in his youth and participated in the 1963 Mr. Hong Kong Pageant. He later turned to studying Wing Chun and was a fellow student of Dickson. In the 1970s, Lee Hai-sheng joined Shaw Brothers as an action actor and martial artist, starring in several films, including Shaolin Thirty-Six Rooms, Plan A, and Dragon’s Heart.
Television Career
In the 1980s, Lee Hai-sheng transitioned to the television industry, often playing roles that leveraged his martial arts background and distinctive appearance. He frequently portrayed high-ranking monks or gangsters with a tough exterior. In recent years, Lee Hai-sheng was best known for his work on TVB dramas, including “Love” and “Conquering the Demons 2.0”, where he played a lonely old man living with a stray dog.
Awards and Legacy
In his later years, Lee Hai-sheng continued to act and teach Wing Chun. In 2018, he received the “Outstanding Contribution Award” from the Hong Kong Action and Stunt Actors Guild. Although he retired from TVB in December last year, his performances will be remembered for years to come.
