Beverly Hills Piano Teacher Charged with Sexually Abusing Teenage Student
LOS ANGELES – A Beverly Hills piano teacher, Hovanes Jihanyan, faces serious charges after being accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old student over several months. Jihanyan was arrested on December 12th, and on Friday, Los Angeles County District attorney Nathan Hochman announced six felony charges against him.
These charges include continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16.According to the District AttorneyS office, the abuse allegedly occurred between August and November of this year, taking place at the victim’s home, in Jihanyan’s car, and at his teaching studio, the French Conservatory of Music in Beverly Hills.
“I am appalled by these horrific acts of sexual abuse against a vulnerable child,” Hochman said in a statement.”Our office has a long history of aggressively prosecuting child abuse cases, and we are fully committed to seeking justice for the victim and their family.”
During the alleged abuse, the victim turned 14 years old. jihanyan is currently being held on $1 million bail and is expected to be arraigned in January 2025. if convicted, he could face up to 29 years in state prison.
