Trial Begins for Namo Bharat Train Beyond Priority Division

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Namo Bharat train in October, marking a significant milestone for the nation.

The first Namo Bharat train service was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, spanning from Shaheedabad to Duhai in Uttar Pradesh. Following this, a trial run from Duhai to Modi Nagar covering a 12 km distance was conducted. The trial run, which departed from Duhai station and reached Murad Nagar station, was a part of the testing process for Namo Bharat trains. The upcoming phase of the Regional Rapid Train Service (RRTS) will cover a 25 km stretch between Duhai and Meerut, with four stations including Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar North, Modi Nagar South, and Meerut South upon completion.

In a recent announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed that the 82 km Delhi-Meerut stretch will be completed within a year and a half. Upon completion, the regional express train service will connect key areas in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan, significantly improving connectivity and accessibility for passengers.

Namo Bharat trains have a unique feature, with an all-female staff complement. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that this initiative reflects India’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Additionally, the trains offer high-quality seating, Wi-Fi facilities, and charging points at every seat. With an undertaking cost of Rs 30,000 crore, it is expected that the travel time from Delhi to Meerut will be reduced to just one hour upon completion, which is a significant advancement for the tourism industry in the country.
