Big News for iPhone Users: iOS 18.1 Beta 4 Unlocks Enhanced Call Recording and Transcription for Older Models
iOS 18.1 Beta 4 Expands Call Recording and Transcription Capabilities to Older iPhone Models
Apple has expanded its call recording and transcription features to support older iPhone models, starting with the iPhone XS and later, in the latest iOS 18.1 Beta 4 release.
Initially introduced in iOS 18.1 Beta 3, the feature was only compatible with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series. However, with the latest update, users with older iPhone models can now tap the icon in the upper-left corner of the Phone app during a call to start recording.
When a call is being recorded, the other person on the call will receive a notification. The recorded conversation is stored in the Notes app, where users can listen to the recording or transcribe it to get a summary of the conversation.
To transcribe a conversation into text, users can select the call recording in the Call Recordings section of the Notes app, tap the Call Recording tile, and then tap the Transcribe button.
The call recording and transcription feature is supported in several countries, including the United States, Australia, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
