Former WWE star ‍Bishop Dyer (formerly baron Corbin) has reflected on the ⁤monumental impact of Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant,‍ recognizing them as pivotal ⁤figures in transforming professional wrestling into a global phenomenon.

Dyer recently discussed Hogan’s influence ⁤following ⁤recent news surrounding the wrestling icon. Speaking on the “busted Open” podcast, Dyer emphasized that Hogan⁣ and‍ his legendary rival, Andre the Giant, were ⁣instrumental in ⁤WWE’s expansion beyond regional territories and into the international spotlight.

The Pioneers of Global Wrestling

“I mean, I just, him [Hogan] and Andre were, in a sense, the first global Superstars, you know,” ⁢Dyer explained. “They’re the ones that took it from territories and throughout the U.S. and became global. You even watch⁢ stuff from like when Hulk worked in Japan, and it was crazy because he’s like doing technical wrestling. And he was so talented at what he did in the ring,‍ and ‍they just kind of⁢ made it a global entity at the time.”

Dyer highlighted the risks⁣ vince McMahon took in the early days of WrestleMania, noting that the event’s success hinged on having stars with⁢ broad appeal. “When you think about, you know, Vince ⁣having to mortgage everything and putting it all on WrestleMania,⁢ and like, without people who outreached that wrestling bubble, that probably would’ve never happened.”

A Legacy of Superstardom

According to Dyer, Hogan and Andre paved the⁣ way for future generations‍ of WWE superstars, ⁣including The Rock and Steve Austin, who further elevated the industry to ‍unprecedented heights. He believes their contributions are the foundation upon which modern⁣ wrestling ⁢is built.

“We owe our careers, superstars now and in the future, we owe our careers to the pioneers, the original pioneers ‍to this. They are the reason it still is what it is,” Dyer stated passionately.

Hogan’s Complex Legacy

Dyer’s comments⁣ echo sentiments shared by other wrestling veterans. Matt Hardy recently acknowledged Hogan’s ⁤crucial role in bringing pro‍ wrestling into the mainstream, while also acknowledging the controversies that have impacted his legacy.

Hulk Hogan’s⁣ impact on professional wrestling is undeniable. He, ‍alongside Andre the Giant, didn’t just entertain; they built a global industry, creating opportunities for ⁣countless performers and captivating audiences‍ worldwide.
