SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Bitcoin’s value has surged, briefly reclaiming the $95,000 mark,a level not seen in two months, fueled by a confluence of factors including easing trade war concerns and optimism from asset managers.
According to data from the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, Bitcoin traded at $95,172, a 1.88% increase compared to its price 24 hours prior. This marks the first time Bitcoin has consistently remained above $95,000 since Feb.24.
The cryptocurrency is now within striking distance of its all-time high of $101,000, recorded on January 20.
Bloomberg News reported that bitcoin is on track for a weekly gain of approximately 12%, potentially its largest since Donald Trump’s presidential election victory.
The recent surge in Bitcoin’s price coincides with volatility in the New York stock market, driven by economic uncertainties linked to the Trump administration’s tariff policies.
Unlike technology stocks, which have often mirrored the dollar’s fluctuations, Bitcoin has diverged, instead mirroring the upward trajectory of gold, which has also been hitting record highs.
Analysts suggest that the easing of concerns surrounding a potential escalation of the trade war has further contributed to Bitcoin’s upward momentum.
QCP Capital analysts noted, “Bitcoin is heading for $100,000, as the macro risk is temporarily relieved and trade tension is reduced.”
Adding to the bullish sentiment, Ark Invest, led by Cathie Wood, has reaffirmed its long-term optimism regarding Bitcoin, increasing its 2030 target price from $1.5 million to $2.4 million.
Other cryptocurrencies also experienced movement. Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, rose 2.43% to $1,809. XRP (Ripple), however, saw a slight decrease, trading at $2.21,down 0.42%.
solana and Dogecoin also saw gains, trading at $152 (up 1.92%) and $0.18 (up 1.75%) respectively.
