Meerut | A woman was arrested for murdering a local BJP leader in Meerut. BJP leader Nishant Garg’s body was found at his house in Govindpuri on Saturday. SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan said his wife Sonia was taken into custody that night. Sonia was taken into custody based on the complaint of Nishant Garg’s brother. The police said that a case of involuntary manslaughter has been registered against Sonia. The police said the woman was produced in court and released in custody.
Sonia told the police that Nishant Garg and Sonia had a fight and Nishant tried to kill her. The SSP said that during the interrogation, Sonia said that Nishant fired at her with a country pistol but Nishant was shot during the arrest.
Nishant’s body was found at home with a gunshot wound in his chest under suspicious circumstances. Sonia had earlier told the police that Nishant had committed suicide. During the questioning, Sonia confessed to the crime of murder.
The SSP said that an empty liquor bottle and a glass were found in the room where the murder took place. Nishant Garg is the social media in charge of the regional unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
