Varanasi: The BJP has lost its Varanasi seat in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections. It is noteworthy that the BJP lost the crucial seat when it won a landslide victory in the by – election with 33 seats in the 36 vacant seats.

His wife Annapurna Singh has won the Varanasi seat, which is owned by the family of jailed mafia boss Brijesh Singh. Independent candidate Annapurna Singh defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Umesh Yadav by 4234 seats.

In Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency, BJP candidate Sudhama Patel is in third position. The Samajwadi Party could not win a single seat. Dismissed from Khorakpur General Hospital Kafeel Khan was also contesting as the Samajwadi Party candidate.
