Blogger “Stay Man” Arrested After Insulting Journalist Radwa El-Sherbini Online
Cairo, Egypt – Popular Egyptian blogger Abdullah Muhammad, known online as “Stay Man,” was arrested on June 24th following accusations of insulting adn slandering journalist Radwa el-Sherbini. The arrest comes after El-sherbini filed a formal complaint against Muhammad, alleging he used offensive language and targeted her on social media platforms to gain attention and increase engagement.
El-Sherbini, who detailed her experience to investigating authorities, stated that Muhammad used derogatory terms, including “a dongle bitch,” to describe her online. She believes his actions were intentional attempts to generate controversy and boost his online presence.
Muhammad gained notoriety for his video series “Be a Man,” which addressed topics related to men’s issues such as relationships and social life. He also launched several controversial social media campaigns, including one titled “Protecting Men from Harassment.” It was during one of these campaigns,titled “Complex Dongle,” that Muhammad directly attacked El-Sherbini,sparking widespread criticism.
this incident is not the first legal battle involving El-Sherbini. In a separate case, the Mohalla Misdemeanor Court acquitted her of insulting and defaming a man and his wife. The couple had filed a complaint against El-Sherbini and her husband, alleging they used insults and slanderous language during an episode of El-Sherbini’s CBC show, “She and the Bus,” also known as “Mahalla Swami.” The court ultimately fined the wife £5,000 for her role in the incident.
