Bloodborne 2: The Elusive Sequel PlayStation Fans Crave, Amidst Sony’s Quest for Fresh IPs
Sony President Highlights the Need for New IPs, While Fans Yearn for a New Bloodborne Game
Recently, Sony Group President Hiroki Totoki shared his thoughts on the company’s intellectual property (IP) in an interview with the Financial Times. Totoki emphasized the importance of creating new IPs, stating that Sony needs to focus on developing its own original content.
According to Totoki, “Whether it’s games, movies or anime, we don’t have that many IPs that we can cultivate from the beginning. We lack IPs in the early stages, and that’s a problem for us.” This statement highlights the challenges Sony faces in developing new and innovative content.
Totoki also acknowledged that Sony has done a good job of attracting new audiences for its most popular brands. However, he believes that relying solely on existing IPs is not enough, and that developing new games from scratch is essential for the company’s growth and profitability.

While Sony has many successful original IPs on PlayStation, including “God of War”, “Horizon”, “The Last of Us”, and “Uncharted”, there are also many dormant first-party games that fans are eager to see revived. Games like “Bloodborne”, “Days Gone”, “Killzone”, “SOCOM”, and “Resistance” have a dedicated fan base, and many are hoping for new installments or sequels.

The desire for new IPs and the revival of classic games is a sentiment shared by many fans. As Sony continues to evolve and grow, it will be interesting to see how the company addresses these concerns and develops new content that meets the expectations of its loyal fan base.
