Two Palestinian organizations have confirmed that prominent prisoner Marwan Barghouti and some of his comrades were isolated in a cell in the “Megiddo” detention center and brutally assaulted in prison, leaving him with serious injuries.

The two institutions added that Barghouti’s injuries later worsened, resulting in ulcers and severe ear infections, due to the prison administration’s intention to release him without treatment.

He continued that the brutal repression that included all prisoners since the beginning of the genocidal war, including the symbols and leaders of the prisoner movement, has only one explanation, that the occupation made a clear decision to try to kill them. , noting that Barghouti was the victim of two previous attacks.

This comes as the Central Committee of the Fatah movement said on Sunday that an attempt to kill Barghouti was a decision by the Israeli government.

The Fatah Central Committee added in a statement that what Commander Marwan Barghouti (detained in Megiddo prison in northern Israel) was and is being victimized is nothing more than an attempt to eliminate him by the decision of an extremist occupation government.

It strongly condemned the repeated brutal attacks on prisoners led by Barghouti, who was again the victim of a vicious attack at a time when the rest of his fellow prisoners were facing the most serious and gruesome attacks and atrocities. Isolation, beatings, and widespread deprivation of medical, food, and most basic rights enshrined in international conventions.

The Central Committee warned that harming Barghuti’s life, the rest of the prisoner leaders and the entire prisoner movement would lead to an escalation of tensions and explosions in the conflict with the occupation.

The committee called on Antonio Guterres, the International Court of Justice and relevant human rights organizations to “urgently intervene to save the lives of Barghouti and all our imprisoned sons and daughters”.

The International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations called for pressure to see Barghouti and his fellow prisoners.

For his part, the head of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fatuh, in a statement, blamed the Israeli occupation for the life of Commander Marwan Barghouti, calling for urgent international intervention to protect the prisoners.

Fatuh added that Barghouti has been subjected to the worst practices of isolation and brutal torture in Megiddo prison for 3 months.

Al-Barghouti has been detained since 2002, and has been sentenced to 5 life sentences and 40 years in prison.

Recently, there has been an increase in evidence of various forms of torture, abuse and humiliation of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, particularly in the notorious SD Teman detention center and other detention centers.
