Traffic Accident on Highway “Hemus” Causes Temporary Lane Closure

A recent traffic accident⁣ on the “Hemus”‌ highway has led to a ⁢temporary traffic organization, as⁤ announced by the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal⁤ Affairs in Shumen.

The incident occurred when a “Volkswagen Crafter” truck with Sofia registration was traveling from Varna to Shumen. Approximately 200 meters after the gas station, on the 363 kilometer mark, the driver of a heavy truck “MAN” with Varna registration caught ‌up and ​collided with‍ the Volkswagen, causing both trucks⁤ to⁣ overturn in⁣ the ditch.

Although the‍ accident ⁣does not block⁤ traffic, the load is ​scattered across the three lanes of the​ motorway.‍ As a result, traffic is ⁢being diverted through ​the Nevsha junction and along the I-2 road, and after Novi Pazar, drivers⁤ can switch to the “Hemus” highway.

Traffic police from Novi Pazar ​conducted tests on both drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotic substances. The 24-year-old driver of the Volkswagen from Aksakovo tested positive for cannabis, while the driver of the other⁤ heavy goods vehicle tested negative.
