Bob Bryar, My Chemical Romance’s Drummer, Dies at 44: A Tribute to His Legacy
Bob Bryar, the longest-serving drummer of My Chemical Romance, has died at the age of 44. He was found in a decomposed state at his home in Tennessee. Bryar was last seen on November 4, and the cause of death is still being investigated, although there is no suspicion of foul play.
Born on December 31, 1979, in Chicago, Bryar began drumming in his school’s marching band. He later studied sound engineering at the University of Florida. In 2004, while working as a sound engineer for The Used, he met the members of My Chemical Romance. He replaced their original drummer, Matt Pelissier, shortly after the release of their second album, “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.”
Bryar contributed to the band’s major albums, including “The Black Parade” and “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.” He left My Chemical Romance in 2010, and the band disbanded in 2013. After his music career, he worked in real estate and retired from drumming in 2021.
Bryar was passionate about animal rescue. His two dogs were taken by animal control after his passing. He once described the thrill of performing for sold-out crowds with My Chemical Romance and recalled his excitement about being part of the band from the start.
