ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher said a Sibley County resident’s trail camera captured an image around 7 p.m. Sunday that appeared to be Boelter.”The trail cam picture alerted SWAT teams to go to that area, secure a perimeter, and with the help of drones, identify his location,” Fletcher said.
Fletcher added that Boelter attempted to evade arrest for about an hour before eight teams cornered him. Lt. Colonel Jeremy Geiger of the Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that Boelter surrendered without any force used by law enforcement.
A criminal complaint filed Sunday night alleges that officers witnessed Boelter shoot and kill Mark Hortman. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has charged Boelter with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree attempted murder.
