Bolivia Cuts Diplomatic Ties with Israel in Response to Gaza Offensive

Bolivia Cuts Diplomatic Ties with Israel and Passionately Condemns Gaza Offensive

AFP, La Paz, 31st: Bolivia, in an unprecedented move, has severed diplomatic relations with Israel and vehemently denounced Israel’s brutal offensive in the Gaza Strip, triggered by the deadly Hamas attack last month.

Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani expressed the government’s resolute stance during a press conference, stating that Bolivia “has unequivocally decided to sever diplomatic ties with Israel and refuses to recognize or condone the wanton aggression and disproportionate military assaults inflicted upon Gaza.”

Meanwhile, Acting Foreign Minister Maria Nela Prada also revealed that Bolivia is providing crucial humanitarian aid to the beleaguered population of Gaza.

“We adamantly demand an immediate cessation of the appalling attacks on the Gaza Strip,” proclaimed Mamani during the press conference. “These relentless onslaughts have tragically claimed the lives of numerous innocent civilians and forced countless Palestinians into the deplorable plight of displacement.”

The government of Bolivia, led by the left-wing Ars party, stands as the trailblazer in Latin America, being the first to sever diplomatic relations with Israel in the aftermath of the Hamas assaults that occurred on October 7th, leaving Israeli authorities to report a staggering death toll exceeding 1,400 individuals. Notably, Bolivia’s previous decision to sever ties with Israel occurred a decade ago, following previous attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Multiple leaders within the region have openly opposed Israel’s offensive in Gaza, while the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health claimed an alarmingly high casualty count of over 8,500 Palestinians, with a heartbreaking two-thirds of the victims being women and children.

(AFP, La Paz, 31st) Bolivia cut diplomatic ties with Israel today and condemned Israel’s bloody offensive in the Gaza Strip after last month’s deadly Hamas attack.

Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani told a news conference that the government “has decided to cut diplomatic ties with Israel and refuses to recognize and condemn Israel’s aggression and disproportionate military attacks in Gaza.”

Acting Foreign Minister Maria Nela Prada also announced that the country is providing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

“We demand an end to the attacks in the Gaza Strip,” he said at the same press conference, “which have so far killed thousands of civilians and forced the displacement of Palestinians.”

The left-wing Ars government is the first in Latin America to cut ties with Israel since the conflict erupted following the Hamas attacks on October 7. Israeli authorities said the attack killed more than 1,400 people. Bolivia did not announce the restoration of relations with Israel until 2019, after ties were severed 10 years ago due to previous attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Several leaders in the region have publicly opposed Israel’s offensive in Gaza, and the Hamas-run Ministry of Health said the offensive had killed more than 8,500 Palestinians, two-thirds of them women and children.
