Vancouver, BC – The boston Bruins rediscovered their offensive firepower Saturday night, dismantling the vancouver Canucks 5-1 at Rogers Arena. After a humbling two-game losing streak to start their five-game road trip, the Bruins dominated from the outset, building an insurmountable 4-0 lead by the midway point of the second period.brad Marchand, Morgan Geekie, Pavel Zacha, and Marc McLaughlin each found the back of the net against former Boston College goalie Thatcher Demko, who faced a barrage of 23 shots in the first two periods. Jeremy Swayman, who was between the pipes for Tuesday’s 8-1 loss in Winnipeg, turned aside 19 shots for the win, securing his second shutout of the season until Max Sasson broke through with a goal 10:13 into the third period.
The Canucks struggled to generate offense, managing only four shots in the first period and 11 by the time McLaughlin tallied his first goal of the season 11:49 into the second.
David Pastrnak, who assisted on the first three Bruins goals, added a goal of his own at the start of the third period to make it 5-0. The goal was only Pastrnak’s third in his last 14 games, but his three assists pushed his career total to 400. His 1-3–4 line for the night marked a season high for points.
“Yeah, I’m a goal scorer,” said Pastrnak, who has 11 goals through 32 games, a far cry from his 108 goals over the previous two seasons. “But so far I haven’t been [a scorer] this year. I haven’t gotten the looks, you know. And we were struggling on the power play… it’s been coming the last three or four games. It’s for sure going to be better. I always look to make plays… and I don’t mind assists.”
the Bruins carried their four-goal lead into the second intermission, their largest lead this season at the 40-minute mark. They are now 8-4-0 in the 12 games as associate coach Joe Sacco took over as interim coach following the dismissal of Jim Montgomery at the 20-game mark.
The road trip continues Tuesday night in Calgary, where newest Bruin oliver Wahlstrom is expected to join the team. Desperate for goal-scoring, the Bruins hope Wahlstrom can provide an offensive spark as they look to build on their remarkable win in Vancouver.
Bruins Snap Skid with Dominant win Over Canucks, Add Offensive Firepower
Vancouver, BC - The Boston Bruins finaly snapped their three-game losing streak with a decisive 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. The win, fueled by a strong start and a renewed sense of urgency, marked a welcome return to form for the Black and Gold.
After struggling to find the net in their previous two outings, the Bruins came out firing, establishing a 2-0 lead within the first 20 minutes. Brad Marchand opened the scoring with a power-play goal, expertly roofing the puck from near the right post.
“That’s a tough thing to do in this league,” said assistant coach Joe Sacco, highlighting the importance of playing with a lead.
The Bruins doubled their advantage shortly after when Jesper Geekie tipped in a feed from David Pastrnak for a crucial even-strength goal, the team’s first of the five-game road trip.
The Bruins’ dominance extended beyond the scoreboard. They outshot the Canucks 15-4 in the opening period, showcasing a renewed commitment to defensive duty and puck possession.
“A clear point of emphasis for the Bruins was to have sticks ready for tips,” noted Sacco, highlighting the team’s focus on generating scoring opportunities.
The victory was even sweeter for the Bruins as they welcomed new addition, right winger Oliver Wahlstrom, who was claimed off waivers from the New York Islanders earlier in the day.
“He’s a great shooter,” said Marchand, who spoke with Wahlstrom after the waiver claim. “A very dangerous shot. He’s almost like a big Pasta.”
Wahlstrom’s arrival adds much-needed offensive firepower to the Bruins’ lineup, potentially providing a spark as they look to climb the standings.
With a day off on Sunday, the Bruins will travel to Calgary, arriving with renewed confidence and a sense of optimism. The win over the Canucks served as a reminder of their capabilities and a much-needed boost as they continue their Western Canada road trip.
Tiny Home Trend Takes Root in Suburban Backyards
Across the U.S., homeowners are embracing a downsized lifestyle, adding compact dwellings to their properties.
The American Dream is evolving. While sprawling McMansions once symbolized success, a new wave of homeowners is opting for something smaller, simpler, and surprisingly stylish: tiny homes.
No longer confined to off-grid communities or minimalist enthusiasts, tiny homes are finding their way into suburban backyards, offering a unique blend of affordability, sustainability, and flexibility.
“It’s about living intentionally,” says Sarah Miller, a Denver resident who recently added a 300-square-foot tiny home to her property. “We wanted to reduce our environmental footprint and simplify our lives, and this was the perfect solution.”
Miller’s tiny home serves as a guest house, providing a pleasant and private space for visiting family and friends. But for others, these compact dwellings are becoming primary residences, offering a path to homeownership in an increasingly expensive housing market.

The rise of tiny homes is fueled by several factors. Soaring housing costs, a desire for minimalist living, and a growing awareness of environmental sustainability are all contributing to the trend.
Tiny homes typically cost substantially less to build than traditional homes, making them an attractive option for first-time buyers or those looking to downsize. Their smaller footprint also translates to lower utility bills and a reduced environmental impact.
“We’re seeing a real shift in priorities,” says architect David Chen, who specializes in designing tiny homes. “People are realizing that bigger isn’t always better. They’re looking for quality over quantity, and tiny homes offer that.”
While the tiny home movement is gaining momentum, it’s not without its challenges. Zoning regulations and building codes can be obstacles, and finding suitable land can be tough in densely populated areas.
Despite these hurdles, the tiny home trend shows no signs of slowing down. As more Americans embrace a simpler, more lasting lifestyle, these compact dwellings are poised to become an increasingly common sight in neighborhoods across the country.
Bruins Find Their bite, Maul Canucks in Vancouver
Vancouver, BC – After a forgettable start to their road trip, the Boston Bruins roared back to life Saturday night, dismantling the Vancouver Canucks 5-1 at Rogers Arena. The dominant performance, spearheaded by a balanced offensive attack and stingy defense, saw the Bruins build an insurmountable 4-0 lead by the second intermission, snapping a two-game losing streak and reestablishing their offensive prowess.
To discuss this crucial win and what it means for the Bruins moving forward, we spoke with former NHL player and current hockey analyst, mike “Moose” Morrison:
ND3: Mike, the Bruins looked like a completely different team than the one we saw lose to Winnipeg and Edmonton. What were your key takeaways from this performance?
Morrison: “This was exactly the kind of response you want to see from a team facing adversity. They came out with a renewed sense of urgency and played with a physicality that Vancouver couldn’t match. The offense was clicking, the defense was suffocating, and Swayman was solid between the pipes. It was a complete team effort.”
ND3: David Pastrnak had a huge night, racking up four points, including a goal. How critically important was his performance for the Bruins?
Morrison: “Pastrnak is the engine of this offense, and when he’s firing on all cylinders, the whole team benefits. He’s been hampered by a bit of a scoring drought recently, so it’s great to see him break through. He’s a true playmaker, and his three assists show that he’s not just about putting the puck in the net, he’s also making his teammates better.”
ND3: The Bruins have been struggling to score goals during this road trip. How significant was this offensive outburst for their confidence?
Morrison: “Massive. This team thrives on scoring goals, and getting five past Demko will do wonders for their confidence. They showed they can still put up big numbers, and that’s a huge boost heading into the rest of this road trip.”
ND3: We also saw new Bruins roster addition Oliver Wahlstrom join the team in Calgary. How much of an impact can he have as they look to add firepower?
Morrison: “Wahlstrom is an exciting young player with a high ceiling. He’s a natural goal scorer and has the potential to add another dimension to their offense. Whether he can produce instantly remains to be seen, but his presence adds another offensive threat and pressure on opposing defenses.”
ND3: What’s next for the Bruins?
morrison: “They have a tough task ahead in Calgary against a strong Flames team. But after this convincing win, they’ll be riding a wave of momentum. if they can carry this energy and offensive spark into the next game, they’ll be tough to beat.”
The Bruins look to build on this victory and solidify their playoff positioning as they continue their road trip through Western Canada.
