Nationals Call Up Brady House to Boost Offense, Lile Returns
The Washington Nationals are hoping a fresh face can jumpstart their struggling offense, as they called up third baseman Brady House, a top prospect, before Monday’s game against the Colorado Rockies.House, ranked as the organization’s no. 3 prospect and No. 91 overall by MLB Pipeline, is expected to make an immediate impact.
House, 22, has been tearing up triple-A Rochester, boasting a .304/.353/.519 slash line with 13 home runs in 65 games. His hot streak includes a 15-game hitting streak, capped by a multi-hit performance Sunday.Scouts grade House highly, with a 60 for power and solid marks for his arm and fielding.
Drafted 11th overall by the Nationals in 2021 from Winder-Barrow High School in Georgia, House now joins a young core in washington. The team desperately needs an offensive spark, having scored a Major League-low 31 runs in june, contributing to an eight-game losing streak and a record 11 games below .500.
Outfielder Daylen Lile,the Nationals’ No. 9 prospect, was also recalled from triple-A. Lile previously debuted on may 23, starting 10 games in right field and recording three doubles, a triple, and two RBIs.
To make room for House and Lile, the Nationals optioned outfielder Robert Hassell III and infielder José Tena to Rochester. Infielder Juan Yepez was designated for assignment.
