Breaking Down Barriers: Onju Pours $150 Million into Revolutionary Infertility Treatment
Ontario Government Invests $150 Million in Infertility Treatment
The Ontario government has announced plans to invest $150 million over the next two years to address infertility issues. This funding will be used to triple the number of families receiving government-funded fertility services through hospitals and community clinics.
The Ontario Fertility Program, launched in 2015, provides all patients, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or family status, with access to options such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Fertility Preservation, and Intrauterine Insemination.
Under the program, patients can undergo one publicly funded IVF cycle in their lives, and one more if they serve as surrogate mothers. To date, more than 107,000 patients have been treated through this program, with 42,741 attempting to form a family through IVF. This support has given many people the opportunity to start and expand their families.
This new investment will enable more hospitals to expand services to patients in need of financial assistance. Medical experts have welcomed this announcement, saying it provides new hope for raising a family by listening to the voices of patients. Dr. Dan Nayot, a reproductive medicine expert, noted, “As reproductive medicine continues to advance, our clinic team is equipped with critical knowledge and skills for better patient outcomes.” These efforts are contributing greatly to expanding opportunities for family formation through effective treatment methods and patient support.
